Julia Middlemiss Signs Letter of Intent with SFSU
|
March 31, 2011: Former Mad River United soccer player Julia Middlemiss has committed to play for the San Francisco State University soccer program. Ms. Middlemiss played Division 1 soccer throughout her Mad River United Club career, starting at U-11. She played for many coaches, including Nick Parker, Joe Homem and presently, Patrick Stranahan. Ms. Middlemiss was a four-year varsity player for Arcata High School, coached by Joe Homem. She participated in the CYSA District 5 ODP (Olympic Development Program) for three years, including two state tryout invitations. "I've been wanting to attend San Francisco State University since my freshmen year, and I'm excited as well as looking forward to having the privilege of being a part of such a talented and successful team next year."

Natalie Bensky (senior in 2009) was selected as a Jewish All-American by the Jewish Sports Review in its January/February 2010 edition. Bensky, the Wildcat mainstay in the net, was selected to the NCAA Division II & III First Team. A native of Willow Creek, Bensky helped lead Chico State to an 8-5-8 record in 2009, and had strong displays in the postseason – including a shutout against reigning national champion Seattle Pacific. She finished her career with the second lowest career goals-against average (GAA) in Chico State history and her 2009 GAA of 0.72 was the fourth lowest in school history.
