For Parents: MRYSL's Complaint Process
|
If you have a concern or a complaint about conduct by
a coach, team manager or any league official, here’s what to do:
1. Talk: First talk to the coach, team manager or league official. Many complaints arise from a misunderstanding; by talking to the person first, you might be able to get a quick and easy resolution to your complaint.
Exception: If you have a complaint or concern about a referee, please DO NOT talk to the referee about it. Instead, please contact the referee assignor or our office.

Here’s a link to some helpful tips on talking to your child’s coach: Responsible Sports Parenting.
If your complaint is about MRYSL rules or policy, please contact the MRYSL board of directors.
|
For MRU, contact
Anthony Kahn, at ak@anthonykahn.com or
Praj White at pwhite@manhard.com.
For Rec, contact:
Paul Swenson (Director of Coaching), at paul@paulphoto.com.
Rebecca Nordquist (Program Coordinator), at nordquistclan@suddenlink.net.
Fred Meyer (program chair) at fishmizermeyer@gmail.com.
You can also submt your complaint to the MRYSL president, Dorina Espinoza, at despinoza66@gmail.com.
|
2. Supervisor: If, after talking with the coach, team manager or other individual involved, your complaint is not resolved, then speak to the person in charge of the program. You can also fill out the MRYSL Incident Report Form, and submit it to the person in charge of the program.
|
3. Formal Complaint: If you wish to pursue a formal complaint, MRYSL has a “Protest Appeals and Discipline” or PAD procedure. To invoke this procedure, all you need to do is mail your written complaint to the MRYSL office, providing as much detail about your complaint as possible. (Emails are not accepted for invoking the PAD procedure.)
In about 30 days, a hearing will be held, during which you can present your complaint and witnesses; then the person you are complaining about will have an equal amount of time to present his or her side of the event.
Three panelists will then decide whether any rules or policies were violated, and if so, what the proper amount of discipline is, if any.

More information on the PAD process is available at CYSA North’s website
