Outside Trainer - Liability Issues |
IMPORTANT POTENTIAL LIABILITY ISSUE FOR D3/D1 COACHES:
Use of "outside" trainers needs to follow certain protocols. Failure to pay attention to the guidelines may lead to a situation where you are not "covered" in terms of liability, or where you unwittingly violate pre-set Mad River "contractual" terms such as pay scales established by Coaches Council and adopted by the Mad River Board.
Any parent may "privately" contract at their own expense with a trainer. In this scenario, the child is not covered unless the coach-trainer has an MR/CYSA "Coaching Pass" photo credential. Mad River is not liable for any payment, and parents are requested to inform the Coaching Director and their 'regular' team coach of any such arrangement as a courtesy. In this scenario, parents should be careful not to create a sense of financial "elitism" where some families cannot afford (or are even "coerced" toward) participation.
Suggested Basic minimum Trainer Rate:
$12 per hour for one-on-one
Maximum trainer rate:
$35 per hour for highly qualified specialist Trainers (resume on file with Mad River). This person would typically have an A or B USSF licence, (or) a Degree and or/MA in Kinesilogy or related field, and probably have an additional qualification such as NASC (strength training) or ACE certification betyond the basic licence.
Mad River teams wishing to "hire" a trainer for specialized work such as goalie training, speed-plyos, or skill intensive training, are expected to:
(a) use only Mad River approved individuals - a list is in process
(b) inform the Coaching Director by e-mail at mufc06@yahoo.com
(c) not exceed written D3/D1 Mad River pay scales (prorated from our monthly rates) or use the min/max $$ guidelines above. |
